Dr. Madhusudhan Kane

Brief Profile: He went to Banaras for his studies. There he earned the Degree of “Ayurvedacharya in Modern Medicine & Surgery.” In 1947 he started practice in Yeotmal. He took affordable fees from his patients and never asked for more money. He always prescribed very inexpensive but effective medicines and gave money to underprivileged patients who couldn’t afford to buy medicines. In 2002 he wrote his autobiography “Gangajaldhara.” Passed away on 5th August 2009. He was a great visionary and did a lot of social work in Yavatmal. He was the founder of Bapuji Aney Mahila Mahavidyalay. He started this college only for girls students as the college education was not allowed by their parents due to the coeducation system. Dr Kane realised this fact and started the Aney Mahila Mahavidyalay and thus many girls were benefitted to continue their education. Starting the college also created a lot of employment for the local people. He also served Hanuman Akhada, Red Cross and many such organisations. In a true sense, Dr. Madhusudan Kane was the Masiha for the people of Yavatmal.
